Both Leamy and Jones were emplyed by the Insurance Company of North America; and the letter contains financial, legal, and commercial matters relating to their insurance as well as personal business.
Mentions problems with a legal suit, though attorneys Jasper Moylan and Edward Tilghman presented good arguments.
Jaspar Moylan was a brother of Stephen Moylan, an original member of the Society of the Cincinnati; Edward Tilghman was a cousin of Tench Tilghman, also an original member of the Society. -- See Tilghman papers finding aid located at Maryland Historical Society
Leamy sugests "picking up a fast sailing sch[ooner] ... on reasonable terms. I'll join you in a West India voyage load her ... with wheat, corn or something.... Let the repell be calculated if possible for 8 or 10 guns. Tobacco will be a good article here in the spring."
