No. 1: Copy of the testament of Paul Jones, translated from the French. The original was date July 18th, 1792. It inlcudes on p. [2] the 1797 certification by J. Wampole, Registrar. Also includes a schedule of the property of Admiral John Paul Jones "taken by his mouth / Governeur Morris p. [2-3]
No. 2 begins: John Regan of Dumfries in the County of Dumfries North Britain cabinet maker maketh oath and saith as follows: ... That he is 75 years of age that he knew and was well acquainted with the family of Captain John Paul Jones ... and he ... also knew and remembers to have seen the mother of thes aid John Paul Jones .... It is dated Dumfries, 1847 (p. [3]).
No. 3 is docketed: (Copy) / Genealogy / of / the descendants / of / Cptain John Paul Jones / 1847
No. 4: W. C. Maitland A.L.S., New York, Oct. 30, 1848 to Primrose & Gordon, Dumfries N.B.. Acting on behalf of the solicitors of Jones's Scottish heirs, he requests certain documents and the power of attorney. "Mr. Richard Billings is the trustee for the parties represneting Paul Jones' heirs .... I enclose you the only letter I ever received ... and from it you will see what Mr. Coxe says about your claim." Page [4] is address leaf.
Jones was an original member of the State Society of the Cincinnati of Pennsylvania
