Orders commanding Brig. Gen. John Paterson to march his brigade from Danbury to Hartford, where he is await further orders. "As you will not be hurried in your march, the strictest discipline is recommended, sending your commissaries, & quarter maters, forward, to make provisions of fire wood, particularly, to prevent the burning of fences of the inhabitants. Your own experience rends it unnecessary for me to add more."
