John Gorham Palfrey (grandson of Lt. Col. William Palfrey) writes to a relative of Governor John Hancock about letters from William Palfrey that might be in the Hancock family’s possession.

William Palfrey joined the Continental Army in July 1775 as a major & aide-de-camp to Gen. Charles Lee; promoted to Lt. Col. & aide-de-camp to Gen. Washington in March 1776; appointed as paymaster general, April 1776-1780.
