Tale of a young George Washington who could not lie, and confessed to cutting down the cherry tree. George shows his father, Augustine Washington, the damaged tree, with an axe lying on the ground beside it. Seen in the distance at right, an African American man guides two oxen in a field, and at left, two African Americans watch George and his father from the house.
