Recording Palys' trip across the Atlantic from France to America & campaigns with the French & American forces during the revolutionary war, including details of his arrival at Newport & his march towards Yorktown in 1781; journal skips the actual Yorktown siege, but picks up again as the French troops head north from Virginia in 1782; Palys was a lieutenant-colonel in the French Army Corps of Engineers during the Yorktown campaign, and was later promoted to maréchal du camp.
Bound in modern green morocco, gilt stamps with Palys arms on both covers.
Palys was the member of the French Society (membership given by Louis XVI in 1792).
