Note
Written in several hands but containing several pages written by General Clinton.
General Clinton also served as governor of New York: "... The Governor most earnestly exhorts both officers and soldiers to improve the present opportunity to learn their duty; they will thereby be qualified to serve their country with success ..."; in addition to the orders regarding training and behavior and court martial results, there are orders as the spring approaches to prepare" ... to take the field, on the shortest notice, that on the approach of the enemy ... the militia may be ready ... neglect may produce the most fatal effects."
Also included are two autograph documents signed by General Clinton, Kingston, 29th June 1780 regarding general orders reorganizing the Albany & Tryon County militia regiments.
