First 7 pages have newspaper clippings on patriotic subjects (ca. 1830) pasted over ms. text.
Some leaves excised throughout.
Connecticut troops in the division commanded by General Israel Putnam spent the winter of 1778-9 at Reading; this orderly book provides details about promotions (David Humphreys appointed aide-de-camp to General Putnam), food supplies, construction of buildings at camp, courts martial and punishments, injunctions against theft and harassment of civilians, lost-and-found notices, clothing allotments, signals, intelligence of enemy movements, etc.
