Note
Gallup was a shoemaker, innkeeper and farmer active during the period of the revolutionary war. This account book includes payments received for corn, oats, hay and pork for the use of the American army, including two bushels of oats to be taken to "Teycontaroga" in June of 1777; and supplies of gunpowder for the militia.
Gallup also dealt in rural produce especially grains & flax, lent out money & his mare to nieghobrs, kept local school house accounts; also includes a recipe for brining beef & pork.
Bound in vellum over papered boards; half of spine torn away.
