Receipted bill inlcudes work done by Freeman Woods, a silversmith who worked first in New York, then in New Bern, N.C. between 1794 and 1827, when this work was done. -- See notes in case file.
Receipted on verso and signed F. Woods.
Items include a silver eagle (July 4, 1798); repairing and polishing a silver tankard (1800); mending sugar tongs, (July 31, 1804 and April 2, 1807); mending 2 teaspoons , April 13, 1807), and mending a locket pin April 1, 1808.
The tankard, which is now in the Anderson House Museum collection (M1975.99), was created by the silversmith Myer Myers sometime before or during the American Revolution. It was purchased by Ennis Graham and inherited by his son, Edward. It passed to the Daves family through the marriage of Edward's daughter Elizabeth to John Pugh Daves, son of original member John Daves (1789-1838). -- see case file for genealogy.
John Pugh and Elizabeth Daves's grandson, John Collins Daves, was a President General of the Society; in his honor, Mrs. Henry M. Lawson, a great-great grandaughter of John Daves, was one of the donors of that tankard in 1975.
In 1976, Mrs. Lawson's brother, Frank Daves Brown, donated this receipted bill.
