On verso: Copy of John F. Vachers will as certified by the surrogate. [And] J. F. Vacher's will in which he gives to his daughter Sarah the gold Eagle, the distinguishing badge of the Cincinnati Society of which he was a member
In addition to the Society's Eagle and a volume of Voltaire bequeathed to his daughter Sarah, land and other belongings are specified to go to his wife, Sarah, as well as his other daughters Eliza and Fanny. Further, he notes that ""... it being my desire an intention that in no event my son shall have any other or greater share or portion of my estate than the one hundred dollars herein bequeathed him."
His wife and daughters are named executori.
Title and date from p. [3], just above the signature.
Vacher was born in France but became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1785. He lived in New York City, where he practiced medicine until his death -- see Francis Sypher, Jr. New York State Society of the Cincinnati ... 2004, p. 512.
He was an original member of the New York State Society of the Cincinnati but apparently transferred his membership to the New Jersey Society.
