Signed: John Snyder, President.
Capt. Ransom was charged with "making a false return of his company and thereby not furnishing his proper quota of men for the present service." He was found guilty of "a breech of honour in making a return of twelve men less than his company consisted of, "for which he was cashiered ... "
On p. [3]: letter of the President of the Court, John Snyder recommending him to pardon: "No withstanding the sentence passed by our Court… we have the great reason to believe from former conduct that what he has done was Inadvertent and not designedly as he, ever since he has been in commission has supported the character of a zealous friend to his country, very forward and expeditious in executing every duty Incumbent on him; We therefore recommend him to your honour as a person worthy to be restored to his post of trust as formerly."
