Pasted down to verso: State of Rhode Island viz., Providence December 7, 1783 / The officers who have served in the American Army belonging to the State of Rhode Island & Providence Plantations, being assembled agreeable to request for the purpose of forming the State Society of the Cincinnati, and having previously signed the rules & articles for the government of said Society; proceeded to the choice of the following gentlemen officers untill the next election ..... Major General Green [sic] President / Brigadier General Varnum Vice President / Colonel Henry Sherburne Secretary / Lt. Colo. Comt. [blank, i.e. Jeremiah] Olney Treasurer / Major [blank, i.e.,John Singer] Dexter Asst. Treasurer / A True copy of original record / D[aniel] Lyman Secretary pro tempore
