Authorship attributed to the Reverend William Hobby, a graduate of Harvard who was a minister of the First Church of Reading in Massachusetts.
Sermon celebrating of British victory over the French at Quebec, delivered on a day of public thanksgiving proclaimed when the news reached Boston; including a number of other events of the French and Indian War, the defeat of General Braddock, the loss of Fort Oswego, and the disaster at Fort Ticonderoga, as well as the successes at Louisbourg and Quebec: "We have reason to conclude from what has been said above of ye Design of ye Judgment of War ... that we are not yet to cry Peace, Peace, nor to expect ye Sword will be speedily returned into its Scabbard--G[od] has indeed graciously interposed in our behalf."
