Note
"Du moment ou jai ete oblige de quitter du Polgne jai cherche avec soin les occasions d'exereir mes talents militaires." He explains further that his contract for the Euro-Russina war has expired, and that monetary misfortunes have made it imperitive to offer his services to the success "des affaires de l'Amerique anglaise."
He introduces "Le Chevalier de Rabier de la Baume" who is familiar with his plans and with his reputation in Poland.
Silas Deane was responsible for recruiting a number of foreign soldiers, Pulaski among them. This letter probably dates sometime between the outbreak of the American Revolution and Nov. 1777, when Deane was recalled from Paris. A translation appears in the Deane papers, vol 1, p. 324, in which the letter is dated Oct.17, 1776
Pulaski rose to the rank of brigadier general before he was killed in the service of America during the Revolution.
