Note
Probably written to a Delaware representative in Congress?
Patterson, a Delaware militia colonel, was put in command of Delaware detachment of the Flying Camp in June 1776; he writes about the problems with raising & equipping the troops for his battalion, noting that "too many boys" have been appointed and that they are in need of clothing and supplies. "I am sorry to say in our county in some when paraded not one man Turnd out – so that only by dint of recruiting they have got what they have attended with much expence to the Capts…." In a postscript he adds "I find the people wild and almost opposite in our Government to all the old good Staunch fr[ien]nds at this time God help them."
