Note
Emphasizes "the importance of forwarding to me at New York all the reports, motions, and resolves of the present and last sessions of the General Court respecting the patents to Beauchamp and [James?] Leverett."
Knox was Secretary of War at the time of this letter and was involved in decisions involving recompense to soldiers in the American Revolution who had not been paid.
G. R. Minot was Secretary to the Convention of the Massachusetts General Court in 1787 and may have filled that position earlier as well. -- Acts and resolves of the General Court of Massachusetts ... 1893, Chapter 30, pp. 839-840.
One James Leverett had been an officer in Jackson's Additional Continental regiment and would have been entitled to payment.
