Letter concerning the re-interment of Uzal Knapp, the last surviving member of Washington’s Life Guard, and his wife under a monument at Newburgh, N.Y.; buried with the remains were 2 copper boxes containing a military history "newspapers, documents, papers, coins etc etc."
Lossing was invited to speak at the dedication ceremony for the monument.
