Sir: This informs you that no guard can be furnished at present all the Continental troops have marched from this place to Canajoharry [sic] as soon as a guard can be furnished I will inform you of it." If the letter is dated 1779, Ten Broeck's request for troops may have been denied because of Washington's focus on the rebellious Indians near Canajoharie, N.Y.
