The letter recommends that "each Member of the Society ... come at the annual Meeting on the fourth of July next, prepared to pay an Assessment of twenty four shillings lawful money and at the same Time to receive their Diplomas, signed by our late Commander in Chief, the Expense of which is included in the Assessment."
"It was also voted, that An Oration be delivered by some one member at the said meeting ...." That oration was delivered by General John Brooks, previously the secretary of that Society and its president as well as the vice-president general of the Society of the Cincinnati.
Both Edwards and Holden were original members of the Massachusetts Society of the Cincinnati.
Watermark: British arms in a circle, no motto; differs slights from all examples in Gravell. Foreign watermarks.
