Letter regarding the possibility of war with Great Britain over the Northeast Boundary controversy and the probability of American victory in such a conflict. Includes various news of fellow officers and their families.
Robert Anderson mentions Gen. Winfield Scott and whether the General would be required to return to Washington, D.C. to testify about the issue, in which case Anderson would go as well-- of which Anderson says, "he would infinitely prefer to stay away."

Anderson was serving as Assistant Adjutant General of the Eastern Department under Gen. Winfield Scott and an honorary member of the New York State Society of the Cincinnati.
