Du Ponceau describes in French the circumstances of the death of Henry Robillard in 1777, a French soldier served in the revolutionary war. He cites the testimonials of the innkeeper, clergyman and physician who attended to him.
Du Ponceau, who served as an aide to General Steuben, remained in America after the war and became a linguist, philosopher and jurist.
