Monies are probably related to transporting the French Army in anticipation of the Yorktown campaign.
Wadsworth, who had served as Commissary General in 1778, resigned in 1779 to act as agent for the French Army. He was also an original member of the Connecticut Society of the Cincinnati.
David Trumbull, son of Governor Jonathan Trumbull, served during the American Revolution as Asst. Commissary General under his brother Joseph.
