During the Revolution, Charles Town, Md. was a supply depot for the American Army; thus the speculated location of the Red Lyon Tavern
Covers materials and services on Sept. 2 and 3, 1781 for ferrying 1270 men of the first division of the Army of France, 1500 men of the second division, and 5 wagons. Total cost: L17.12.6.
.At lower left are additional figures, totaling L317.5.0, possibly reflecting additional funds due Baldwin.
Jeremiah Wadsworth, who had served as Commissary General in 1778, resigned and became the agent for the French Army in 1779. He was an original member of the Connecticut Society of the Cincinnati.
