Caption title
Date surmised from promotion of von Losbergh [i.e. von Lossburg] to brigadier general, which occurred in January, 1778. His unit was stationed in and around Newport in 1778.
Possibly a draft report of rations, artillery equipment, and wages for an unidentified company of officers and men, possibly that of Col. John Hathaway's Regiment of Massachusetts militia, who marched to Rhode Island. Wages, broken down by rank from captain to private total 41 pounds, 9 shillings, 8 pence.
Three columns list rounds, boxes, and flints issued to each man.
At head of page [2]: Brigadier General von Losberg 6 regts, a comp'y of Hessians in a regt, each compa'y containing 125 men when full, 3 regts British troops at a loss what number.
Also on verso, many sums, and notes along right margin concerning Spanish troops (in one place, "Nothing to pay Spanish troops"; in another, ninety two pounds 46 ... 1777 )
