The early records from the archives of the Society of the Cincinnati comprising those items retained by the Society since its formation in 1783 through the early 20th century. The early archives were placed on deposit with the Library of Congress in 1930 and returned to the Society at Anderson House in 1973. (Accession number L1973.1783 assigned in 2014).
These records include the founding document of the Society-- the Institution-- as well as minute books, letters, receipts, and drafts of designs for Society insignia. The bulk of the collection dates between 1783 to 1930.
