Note
Founded in 1801 in order to provide an educational institution for the orphaned children of soldiers who died in the wars with France began in 1793; the Asylum was the first large scale educational system for working class children & the first co-educational school in England.
Detailed regulations describing the various staff positions, duties, pay, benefits, etc.; plates include the table describing the food served for each meal for each day, samples of application forms for the children who wished to attend the school & various certificates.
Bound in red sheep; both covers double gilt ruled border; spine with gilt floral morifs in flat compartments; title stamped in gilt on front cover.
