Also on verso is 1) "Passed the secretarys office the 30th day of September 1795 [signed] Lewis A. Scott, Secretary. 2) statement of John Jay as governor, who administered the oaths of office on the 14th of October, 1795 and 3) Robert Benson, clerk of the city of New York, a witness.
Oversize on vellum; original seal of the state of New York with a portion of the red tie removed to a separate box.
Varick was an original member of the New York Society of the Cincinnati
