Note
Following America’s entry into the war in April 1917, Belgium sent a delegation to the United States in hopes of raising sympathy and securing aid for its relief. The Andersons offered the delegation the use of Anderson House for the three-week Washington portion of their tour of the United States. The delegation arrived at Anderson House on June 18, 1917.
Baron Ludovic Moncheur, the head of the Mission, is seated second from the left in the two garden photographs. A telegram from Baron Moncheur to Isabel Anderson thanking her for the loan of Anderson House is part of the Alexander Ferguson Anderson collection (call number: MSS L1241.74).
