Jackson, the secretary to the United States Constitutional Convention; succeeded Knox as secretary general of the Society of the Cincinnati. He was also serving as a lobbyist to Congress to secure outstanding pensions for veteran officers of the Continental Army.
"... My memorial on behalf of the gallant remnant has been referred to a Committee and I believe they will report on Monday – the issue is yet doubtful …"
