Note
List of 19 men, recruited at Springfield, Mass. and enlisted in the Continental Army for a term of 6 months, who were conveyed to Gen. John Glover in the Hudson River Highlands.
List includes name, age, stature, complexion, their town of residence, when they arrived at Springfield; among the enlistees is 39 year old Prince Easterbrooks, an African American who was wounded during the battle of Lexington in 1775, but served through the war.
On verso, accounting for the arrival of 18 of 19 men named on the list, signed by Gen. Glover: "Springfield 12th of August 1780. Received of Justin Ely Esqr. Commissioner for the State of Massachusetts Bay the eighteen men born on the within list together with a descriptive list of the same being raised to reinforce the Continental Army..."
