Note
Illustrated ms. chart, giving detailed information on the military divisions and troop numbers of the French army in 1787.
Depicts the entire military establishment, including the King's household, the French & Swiss Guards, the Gendarmerie, Infantry, Cavalry, Artillery, Dragoons, & Provincial Troops, etc.; also included are colors of their uniforms, names of senior officers, recapitulations of regiments, battalions, & squadrons showing their total strength.
In cursive hand in brown and red ink on paper, presented in tabular form in grids of gold, green & red; black & gilt borders with the royal arms.
These ms. presentations were used for financial & administrative reports to the king or the high court officials; this copy was prepared for the Comte d'Artois (brother of Louis XVI and later became King Charles X, 1824-1830).
