This invitation is referenced in Larz Anderson's collected letters: "Of all places in the United States, the Prince and his party chose to come also for a three days' rest to White Sulphur. We had an unusual opportunity to meet His Royal Highness informally, and were invited to take cocktails in his room, and to informal luncheon with just the Prince and Admiral Sir Lionel Halsey."
The Andersons had been previously invited to a reception in Washington D.C. (see MSS L1241.53). They declined as Isabel's mother had recently passed away and they were still in mourning. They went instead to White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia [now the Greenbrier resort] to rest. However, they met up with the Prince in White Sulphur Springs during his visit there resulting in this invitation.
