Account of the revolutionary war services of William Choate by his son Nathan Choate; based on "some memorandums that I have preserved. In 1777 New England was called upon for troops and my father William Choate volunteered and was in the battle at Bennington, and in the two battles at Stillwater and in the battle of Saratoga when Burgoyne surrendered. when the Enligh laid down their arms ... my father threw down his old musket and took up in its place a good British musket and kept it and gave it to me ..."; he later served at sea and was captured twice by the British.
