Schaak’s portrait based on a sketch by Wolfe’s aid-de-camp Henry Smith, then engraved by Houston in about 1767; this is the first state being lettered "Henry Smith Esqr. Delin. I.S.C. Schaak Pinx"; and then altered in the second state by the substitution of the words "From an original picture in the possession of Henry Smith Esq." (Library has both states)
