Portrait commissioned by and for the family of General Hale. Hale served in the 47th Regiment at the Siege of Louisbourg in 1758 and was with Gen. James Wolfe at the battle of Quebec in 1759. Following the defeat of the French, Hale was appointed to carry the news of the victory and of Wolfe’s death back to England.
Backed with Japanese tissue.
