Typed caption with invitation reads, "By order of Their Imperial Majesties the Emporer and Empress the Minister of the Imperial Household requests the pleasure of Hon Larz Anderson and Mrs. Larz Anderson to luncheon on July sixteenth at noon in the Imperial Palace. July 14th 43 Year of Meiji... Luncheon given at the Imperial Court in honor of the American Secretary of War, Hon. J.M. Dickinson, and his party on the way to visit the Philippines."
