Handwritten menu in French with steamship logo at top.
Larz and Isabel Anderson cruised on their chartered steam houseboat the Roxana in the spring and summer of 1907, it is possible this menu dates from a party given on the boat during one of these trips.
A number of names are written in pencil on the reverse, the names appear to be in different hands, perhaps signed by each person. Signatures include Eleonora Randolph Sears, a famous early female athlete and Boston socialite, and Chevalier Roberto Centaro, attache to the Italian embassy. According to newspaper reports, Centaro committed suicide in London while posted there as First Secretary of the Italian Embassy in 1916. Other names include Julia and Alice Meyer, most likely the daughters of U.S. Postmaster General George von Lengerke Meyer.
