Invitation reads, "De orden de S.M. el Rey (q. D.g.), tengo el honor de invitar a V. al Baile que ha de verificarse en las Reales habitaciones, el dia 2 del proximo mes de Junio a las nueve y media de la noche. Palacio 30 de Mayo de 1906."
Signature at bottom reads, "P. El Duque de Sotomayor?"
With invitation is typescript caption pasted on black construction paper reading, "Invitation to Court Ball (which was changed into a Reception at the last moment owing to the mourning for those killed by the explosion of the bomb) on the occasion of the marriage of King Alfonso XIII.
The "explosion of the bomb" in the caption is a reference to the assasination attempt against the King and Queen made on their weddding day, May 31, 1906 during which several bystanders were killed.
