Invitation for Larz and Isabel Anderson "to have the hounour of meeting His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales" [the future King Edward VIII, later Duke of Windsor] at a reception to be held on Thursday evening, November the thirteenth at "half after nine o'clock."
The British Ambassador during the Prince's visit to the United States was Viscount Grey of Fallodon.
This invitation has been dated to November 1919 due to the fact that the 13th was a Thursday during that year and the following passage from Anderson's writings: "Of all places in the United States, the Prince and his party chose to come also for a three days' rest to White Sulphur. We had an unusual opportunity to meet His Royal Highness informally, and were invited to take cocktails in his room, and to informal luncheon with just the Prince and Admiral Sir Lionel Halsey."
The Andersons were invited to a reception in Washington D.C. [believed to be this invitation]. They declined as Isabel's mother had recently passed away and they felt attending a formal party while in mourning would be improper and went instead to White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia [now the Greenbrier resort] to rest. However, they met up with the Prince in White Sulphur Springs during his visit there.
