A sermon preached in the avdience (and pvblished at the request) of the worthie company of practizers in the military garden in the well governed citie of Coventry / by Samvel Bvggs ... ; whereunto is added a late learned and religious speech, delivered vnto his Maiestie, in behalfe of the aforesaid citie, by Dr Holland ..."
Two parts linked by the wording on the title, each announcing the other; usually Buggs bound first (our copy: Holland bound first); each part has separate title & pagination.

A military (or artillery) garden is a practice grounds; Holland, resident of Coventry, was chosen to deliver the oration to James I on his return from Scotland in 1617; Buggs discusses 3 things to be "a compleat souldier', good carriage of his person, a sufficiency of weapons, competent skill & experience. He speaks of discipline, courage, and resolution, and reminds his military audience 'that honestie must not be put off, when armour is put on.'
