The previous editions (1775 and 1776) were published under title: Plain concise practical remarks on the treatment of wounds and fractures. Two minor works have been added in this edition: "Case of anthrax" (pp. 173-177) and "Uncommon case of hydrocele" (pp. 179-181).
Jones served as a surgeon in the French & Indian War and the revolutionary war; responsible for the organization of the medical department of the Continental Army.
