Invitation to Larz Anderson for the next meeting of the Sette of Odd Volumes to be held at Limmer's Hotel on May 6th.
Heron-Allen was a noted 19th century polymath- a solicitor, student of the violin, zoology, horticulture, translator of the Persian language, and author of several early science fiction short stories under the pseudonym Christopher Blayre. He was a good friend of Oscar Wilde and was deeply involved in literary circles.
Ye Sette of Odd Volumes is an exclusive dining and literary society founded by the antiquarian bookseller Bernard Quaritch in 1878. Heron-Allen, known to the Odd Volumes Brotherhood as Necromancer, joined the society in 1883.
Printed on laid paper, mounted on board and considerably discolored.
