"I lately receiv'd a letter from Col. Wm. Campbell (a Captn. in Gibsons Regiment in the late war) requesting me to know of you, whether his military lands have been survey'd, or not? .... I am enpower'd by him to negotiate an affair, which respects 1000 acres ... with Mr. William Young of this County...."
"I regret that no opportunity hath offer'd for the renewal of our acquaintance, since I became a resident of Kentuckey [sic].
On address leaf: a note in another hand [i.e. Crogan's?]: ans'd June 14th;another on p. [2] including a stipulation.
Both Lawson and Croghan were original members of the Virginia Society of the Society of the Cincinnati.
