Brown's Indian Queen Hotel was one of Washington's most popular and prestigious hotels from its opening in 1820 until it was expanded and renamed Brown's Marble Hotel in 1851. President John Tyler was sworn in at the hotel following William Henry Harrison's death in 1841.
