Note
Charles Anderson writes to his sister of various family news and local gossip.
He also reports a slave uprising in the area in some detail saying amongst other description: "We were very much out of sorts on account of an Insurrection of our slaves... What a silly thing it was to suppose that they could succeed entirely, although they might make a great havoc in a neighborhood. Their Genl. Chas Henderson a free slave from Cincinnatti has not been arrested I believe."
He also mentions performing an "African wedding" for two slaves saying, "The match was Miss Mary Miller to Stephen David, belonging to Coleman Daniel."
