Includes standing orders of the "manouvres to be practised in the Camps" of the British Army under Lord Jeffery Amherst, commander-in-chief of Great Britain & "dutys and regulations to be observed in the camp" that are authorized by Lieut. Gen. Keppel, then commanding at Coxheath Camp; also contains the general and cantonment orders posted each day for the camp covering the period June 8 to August 11, 1778 in chronology, interspersed with new standing orders inserted at later dates.
Coxheath Camp, located in Kent County, became the site of the largest training camp of the British army during the revolutionary war, at which the British implemented new practices and procedures based on their experience in America.
Bound in calfskin with gilded tooling and title label.
