According to the Filson map of 1784, the Big Barren River area includes "Land referred for the Virginia troops, extending to the Carolina Line ..."

William Croghan was an officer in the Virginia Line and an original member of the Society of the Cincinnati. He was also a surveying partner of his brother-in-law, George Rogers Clark.
One of 4 documents, all apparently relating to William Croghan and the land near the Big Barren River and Campbell's Ford on Trade Water.
