Unpublished journal/notes written by a French army engineer with Rochambeau's forces; discusses his experiences in America from his arrival at Newport, R.I. in 1780 through his march with the French and American armies from New England to Virginia; concludes with the description of the Battle of Yorktown, as well as his later travels through Virginia in 1782, including a visit to Monticello and a meeeting with Thomas Jefferson.
