Requests urgent assistance of "a guard of about ten men" to assist in the defense of various area forts -- he mentions Irwins fort and Smiths fort -- against the Indians. "On Friday last they kiled [sic] a Mr. Daniel about five miles from our fort on Tuesday last they kiled [sic] the family of David Jackson near our fort ...."
The Oconee River basin was an area of hunting grounds favored by the Creek Indians during and after the American Revolution.
